MixedRivals aims at advancing the conceptual and theoretical framework on inter-migrant group relations by taking an interdisciplinary approach bringing together 1) socio-psychology 2) violent conflict research 3) the rivalry concept 4) refugee and migration studies and 5) policy effects literature together.
The concept of mixed rivalries is introduced, arguing that the concepts of “competition” or “threat” alone do not sufficiently pick up on the full extent of the complex and multi-dimensional contestations that might arise between different refugee and migrant groups (arrivals), but need to be considered in combination. A typology of mixed rivalries will be developed.
